Services

Center for Disease Detection’s (CDD) laboratory operations are separated into three distinct, mutually supportive areas.

Testing
Clinical Laboratory: At the center of our operation is the clinical laboratory, designed to accommodate large volumes of specimens while performing high-quality testing.

Laboratory Logistics: Our laboratory logistics department is responsible for specimen receipt and distribution of testing supplies. Our fully trained logistics specialists are authorized to retrieve specimens directly from the air cargo hub located adjacent to our facility. Every shipment of specimens or supplies is tracked electronically, allowing full visibility to our staff and our client sites. Specimen receipt, inspection, sorting, and accessioning are accomplished in our logistics department under the close supervision of trained supervisory personnel.

Quality Assurance: CDD’s quality assurance department is responsible for oversight of all laboratory testing, equipment operations and maintenance, and validation of all algorithms and testing protocols to ensure accuracy of results. All equipment undergoes daily quality control testing (with each test batch) and scheduled preventative maintenance visits. All personnel receive initial training and certification on all relevant equipment and laboratory operations as well as supervised continuing education. The laboratory participates in quarterly external proficiency testing programs through the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and other regulatory agencies.

Client Services
Our client services division serves as the link between our clients and the core of our facility, the laboratory. This division ensures that all clients have the necessary supplies and equipment readily available to ensure uninterrupted collection and shipment of specimens. Client services staff assists submitters with specimen preparation and transport, test ordering, error correction, and result retrieval. They also provide assistance on using our automated system.
